The Korean and Canadian navies conducted cooperation exercises on the Western Canadian Sea from June 3 to June 4 (Canada local time). Four traps and three aircraft including the Korean Navy’s 3,000-ton-class submarine Dosan Ahn Changho, the escort ship Daejeon, the AW-159 marine operation tactical aircraft, including the Canadian Navy’s submarine Cornwall and the escort ship Ottawa, took part in this exercise.

The navies of both countries have further strengthened their capability to carry out joint operations through real-world maritime training, such as large ship firing, large-scale warfare, helicopter flying and landing. Dosan Ahn Changho ship, which possesses advanced scientific technology in Korea, has shown excellent operational capability and proved the power of the Korean Navy’s powerful submarine.

Six Canadian Navy submarine crew members, including Captain Awler Benjamin Hong, were transferred directly to the ship Dosan An Changho and participated in the training. Soldiers of both countries have confirmed the advanced system and interoperability of Korean submarines at the operation site and established strong trust and friendship.

Ship Dosan Ahn Changho and Daejeon ships who successfully completed cooperation training will participate in the Environmental Peace Training (RIMPAC) held in Hawaii starting June 24.
