South Korean Minister of National Defense Ahn Kyu-baek held a phone call May 28th with the captain of the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho submarine, which successfully completed its trans-Pacific expedition and safely arrived at Victoria Port in Canada, to encourage the crew members.
In this call, Minister Ahn commended the hard work of all the crew members for demonstrating to the world the unparalleled operational capabilities of the Republic of Korea’s latest submarine by completing the 14,000 km expedition from Korea to Canada, while also requesting the successful execution of the joint training, which marks the first participation of submarines from both navies.
In particular, he encouraged the crew members participating in the joint training between the two countries followed by the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), emphasizing above all that the health and safety of the crew members are the top priority, and wished for their safe return.
