1. Where are you from?

Thetford Mines south of Quebec City, located in the Appalachian Mountains with a population just over 26,000. It is named after the town of Thetford in Norfolk, England. It’s known for its lakes and outdoor activities, skiing, boating, fishing and hiking. In the spring, it’s maple syrup producing time and is one of the top maple syrup producing region’s in the world.

2. How long have you been in the military? Why did you join?

I have been in the military for 11 years. First, I joined for the challenge but also to finance my university studies. I have a Masters degree (MSc) in Political Science from Université de Montréal and a Bachelors Degree from McGill University in Montreal.

3. Have you deployed before, either on a NATO exercise or other mission?

This is my first NATO tasking and I will be deploying to Latvia with the Multinational Brigade Latvia. It is a new Brigade being established at Camp Ādaži and this will be my first deployment.

4. What is your job in the military and what will you be doing during this exercise?

I am a Public Affairs Officer and currently a Canadian Public Affairs Liaison Officer working at the NATO Media Information Centre in Szczecin, Poland as part of exercise Brilliant Jump and part of the Steadfast Defender exercise series.

5. What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

I am a cyclist, I also enjoy back country skiing in the winter, gastronomy, reading and travelling.

6. What is your biggest strength?

Autonomy and flexibility.

7. What is the best thing about being in the military?

The challenge. Surpassing yourself everyday. The opportunities we get, the networking and the benefits.
