HMCS Moncton departed Halifax October 24, 2023 a six-week deployment in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
The U.S.-led Enhanced Counternarcotics Operations under Joint Interagency Task Force South which is responsible for conducting interagency and international detection and monitoring operations and facilitating the interdiction of illicit drug trafficking.
To assist these efforts, a US Coast Guard law enforcement detachment will embark on Moncton. Canada has now laws allowing the military to actually make arrests or seizures.
