OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) is pleased to announce the release of the Collision Avoidance Decision Aid (CADA), a powerful new module that extends the capabilities of the ECPINS WECDIS platform. CADA represents OSI’s first AI‑augmented decision‑support tool, delivering advanced collision‑avoidance assistance while maintaining full compliance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs).
Designed to support bridge teams in complex and high‑risk navigational environments, CADA helps operators identify, assess, and respond to potential collision threats with greater confidence and situational awareness. AI‑augmented algorithms, combined with an intuitive user interface, enable seamless integration into existing bridge workflows without disrupting established operational practices.
CADA has undergone extensive sea trials, successfully demonstrating the integration of real‑world sensor data under challenging operational conditions. These trials marked an important milestone in validating the system’s decision‑support capabilities across a wide range of realistic scenarios, including high‑traffic areas, restricted waters, and multiple COLREGs encounters.
The development of CADA has been informed by close collaboration between OSI engineers, naval officers, and maritime domain experts, ensuring the solution aligns with real operational needs and supports bridge teams in making timely, well‑informed decisions.
The ECPINS CADA module forms part of OSIs’ broader strategy to support naval forces as they transition toward increasingly autonomous maritime operations, while preserving human oversight and confidence in decision‑support systems.
