Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Wakasal) Admiral TNI Erwin S. Aldedharma representing the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali attended the International Chiefs of Navy Visit to Halifax which took place from October 13 to 16, 2025 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
This activity was organized by the Royal Canadian Navy and led directly by the Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy Vice Admiral Angus Topshee. This forum is a strategic event that brings together Navy leaders from various countries in order to strengthen international maritime cooperation in the midst of evolving global geopolitical dynamics and challenges.
A number of high-ranking Navy officials from friendly countries who were also present at this event included Pakistan Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Australian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Mark Hammond, Norwegian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Oliver Berdal, and New Zealand Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Garin Golding.
The series of activities included various bilateral meetings between delegations, as well as a panel discussion with the theme “Alliances and Partnership: Working Across Shifting Geopolitics” which discussed the importance of strategic alliances and international partnerships in the field of maritime defense, especially in the face of rapidly changing global dynamics.
In the bilateral meeting, Wakasal discussed strengthening maritime defense cooperation with several partner countries, including increasing interoperability, personnel exchanges, joint training, and cooperation in countering transnational crimes at sea.
Wakasal’s presence in this international forum is a tangible form of the Navy’s commitment to the implementation of the Asta Cita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, namely realizing defense diplomacy and increasing Indonesia’s active contribution in maintaining regional and global maritime stability and security.
