The 25th North Pacific Coast Guard Forum Summit (NPCGF) was held in Shanghai, China, with participation from the heads of coast guard agencies of the North Pacific region. Commandant SEGUCHI Yoshio attended on behalf of the Japan Coast Guard. The meeting took place from September 22 (Mon) to 25 (Thu).
At the meeting, the participants discussed collaboration and cooperation among the member countries and future activities, with the aim of ensuring maritime safety and security in the North Pacific.

3. Overview

Participants exchanged information on recent developments, including cases of crackdown on smuggling and illegal immigration in the North Pacific, the responses of each country to search and rescue incidents and marine pollution incidents, and trends in disaster prevention measures regarding marine transport of energy sources for decarbonization.
Participants also agreed to continue enhancing cooperation among member countries in various fields through activities such as table-top exercises and communication drills.
The next host country will be Russia.
