The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command organized naval and air forces to track and monitor the passage of Canadian frigate the HMCS Ville de Quebec and the Australian guided-missile destroyer, HMAS Brisbane, which transited the Taiwan Straits September 6th, throughout the entire course, said Senior Colonel Shi Yi, the spokesperson for the theater command.

The theater command took effective measures in response, the spokesperson said.

The actions of Canada and Australia sent wrong signals and heightened security risks, and the theater’s forces remain on high alert at all times and will resolutely safeguard China’s national sovereignty, security, and regional peace and stability, Shi noted.

According to sources, on Saturday, Canadian frigate HMCS Ville de Quebec and the Australian destroyer, HMAS Brisbane, transited the Taiwan Straits and engaged in provocative actions. The PLA maintained full surveillance and monitoring throughout the transit, with the situation fully under control, the Global Times learned exclusively.
