Davie is proud to contribute to the launch of a new Attestation of Vocational Studies (AVS) in Shipbuilding, which will be offered at the Centre de services scolaire des Navigateurs (CSSDN) in Lévis. Scheduled to launch in February 2026, this program will train the next generation of shipbuilding professionals in Québec.

This new program, totaling 600 hours, will train skilled workers in shipbuilding, refurbishment, and repair to meet the growing needs of Québec’s shipbuilding industry. By welcoming two cohorts, the program will offer students the opportunity to acquire high-demand skills in a rapidly growing sector. As Davie embarks on the largest work plan in its history, this initiative will help meet the industry’s high demand for skilled labor while providing many long-term jobs in the region.

The launch of this new vocational training program is made possible by an investment of over $1.2 million from Davie, approved by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). It is part of the company’s long-term vision, focused on the highest standards of excellence and the development of a skilled workforce. Davie is working to build a sustainable future for Canadian shipbuilding by attracting a new generation of enthusiastic and qualified professionals here in Lévis.

“This program is first and foremost a promise to our region: to offer quality careers, promote local expertise, and contribute to the creation of stable jobs that inspire local pride. Together with the CSSDN, we are creating a clear path to a career in the shipbuilding industry. This investment by Davie is a tangible way to support the economy of Lévis and Québec, while preparing a new generation that will uphold our standards of excellence,” said Lindsey Kettel, President of Davie.

“The Centre de services scolaire des Navigateurs is proud to collaborate with Davie to offer a training program that directly meets labor market needs while creating concrete opportunities for our region. This partnership demonstrates our education network’s ability to adapt to economic realities and support Québec’s strategic sectors. Through the AVS in Shipbuilding, we are helping to train a qualified, proud, and committed new generation that will actively contribute to the vitality of Lévis and the greater Québec City area,” said Suzie Lucas, Director General of the CSSDN.

“This announcement is excellent news for Lévis and the entire shipbuilding industry. It represents much more than a training program: it is a strategic investment in the growth of the industry. By offering long-term career opportunities and promoting local expertise, we are strengthening our economy and creating opportunities for our workers. I applaud Davie and the CSSDN for their commitment to building a skilled workforce that will advance Québec’s shipbuilding industry,” said Bernard Drainville, Member of the National Assembly for Lévis and Minister responsible for the Maritime Strategy.
